Dr. Shane Nau is a board-eligible ophthalmologist. His areas of expertise include comprehensive medical ophthalmology and cataract surgery.

Dr. Nau completed his undergraduate and Master of Science at the University of Colorado Boulder in 2015 and later received his medical degree also at the University of Colorado Boulder in 2019. He completed both his medical internship in Internal Medicine in 2020 along with his residency in Ophthalmology at the University of Colorado in 2023. During that time, Dr. Nau received numerous honors, awards, and grants including the President’s Scholar Award, Graduate Experiences for Multicultural Students (GEMS) Scholarship, Bioscience Research Grant from the Howard Hughes Medical Institute, a Biological Research and Training Grant, Biological Science Initiative, and he was a First-Generation Scholar at the University of Colorado Boulder.

Dr. Nau has robust volunteer involvement including service at Denver Health, Stout Street Liaison, a partnership between Stout Street Eye Clinic and Denver Health Ophthalmology to better serve the local homeless population. He also served as the Clinic Coordinator at DAWN Ophthalmology, serving as triage, scheduling, and coordination for a free resident-run ophthalmology clinic. At the Denver Rescue Mission, Dr. Nau was a mentor providing long-term relational, emotional, and spiritual support for an at-risk adolescent whose family was on the verge of homelessness. Also, at the University of Colorado School of Medicine, he aimed to reevaluate and design an evidence-based medicine curriculum at monthly meetings while engaging with faculty of the Curiosity, Discovery, and Application of Evidence    Curriculum Reform Committee. Lastly, Dr. Nau served as a mentor and volunteer at Breakthrough Kent Denver, providing long-term, social, and academic guidance to an underrepresented adolescent interested in a college education.

Dr. Nau is a native of Colorado and grew up in Littleton. In his spare time, Dr. Nau enjoys spending time with his family, church, bible study, hiking, fishing, skiing, and camping. He is also interested in amateur carpentry and woodwork, as well as gardening and landscape design.
